Job summary

Management Analysis Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Military Science Instructor (MSI) who will be responsible for teaching effective military science both in classroom and field settings. The instructor will provide training in various military disciplines and support Cadet Summer Training at Fort Knox, KY.

The ideal candidate is a former commissioned or non-commissioned officer with at least six years of military experience, strong teaching abilities, and the knowledge to effectively engage Cadets in both indoor and outdoor environments. They will assist in recruiting efforts and require a valid vehicle operator’s license for transport during events.

Job description

Summary

The Military Science Instructor (MSI) will teach effectively in indoor classroom and field training settings, presenting standardized instruction and creative workshops. Contractor personnel shall have demonstrated instructor ability in military field training exercises and be able to live and instruct in field environments for extended periods during training exercises.

Essential Functions

• Provide military science instruction, group and/or individual training, field instruction in accordance with Cadet Command’s Program of Instruction (POI), syllabus, and other ROTC-directed or emerging training in various settings on and off campus, including field environments.
  • Use mixed media and innovative teaching methods to meet learning objectives.
  • Ensure students are tested in class and apply theory in practice during training and assessment events.
  • Provide expert training at Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills, small‑unit tactics, and physical fitness.
  • Coach, teach and prepare competitive Cadet teams (ranger challenge, drill team, color guard).
  • Instruct Cadets on the leader/officer‑to‑NCO relationship across levels from squad to platoon and above.
  • Instruct and prepare Cadets on executing written and verbal plans, concepts, and crisis/contingency management.
• Support Cadet Summer Training (CST) for approximately 40 days at Fort Knox, KY.
• Assist Government personnel in marketing/recruiting efforts at orientation and other events.
  • Gather information on Cadet prospects and develop marketing materials.
  • Participate in student orientation, college fairs, parades, and similar events.
  • Provide information to potential recruits and community leaders about Army ROTC.
  • Escort community leaders through campus tours and answer questions.
  • Assist with inventory and distribution of supplies.
• Transport ROTC personnel, Cadets, and supplies in conjunction with training exercises and recruiting/marketing events. Valid vehicle operator’s license and completion of required training are required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any direct reports.

Work Environment

Primarily an indoor classroom setting. Instruction may occur outdoors or offsite (e.g., Ranger Challenge, Color Guard, Leadership Labs, Field Training Exercises). Other activities such as recruiting events may involve travel and outdoors.

Physical Demands

• Speak and communicate clearly.
• Physically demonstrate activities as required.
• Operate on uneven terrain during Leadership Labs and Field Training Exercises.
• Travel by car, van, truck, plane, or other means to assigned events.
• Participate in recruiting events and other activities as assigned.

Travel Required

Yes – travel as needed; overnight travel annually to attend CST.

Required Education and Experience

• Commissioned or Non‑Commissioned Officer within the U.S. Army, Active Component, or former/current member of the Army Reserve or National Guard (not other branches).
• Minimum of six (6) years of prior active or reserve component military experience (permanent employment) or four (4)–six (6) years (temporary employment). Experience must be current within the last five years and terminated with an honorable discharge or retirement.
• Meet the academic institution’s qualifications and requirements for instructor positions.
• Thorough knowledge of Army organizational structure, mission objectives, procedures, regulations, and policy.
• Knowledge and experience of military training and field training evaluations.
• Knowledge of basic Soldier skills (map reading, land navigation, marksmanship, drill, ceremonies, small‑arms).
• Knowledge of safety skills in the use of small arms, ammunition, and pyrotechnics.
• Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, graphics programs, Windows environments, and email/internet.
• Effective teaching in classroom and field training settings.
• Demonstrated instructor ability in military field training exercises and ability to live/instruct in field environment for extended periods during training exercises.
