Job summary

Linked, LLC is seeking an experienced Armor Welding Specialist / Defense Fabrication Welder in Romeo, MI to weld armor steel for defense/military vehicle applications. Candidates must have hands-on armor-steel fabrication experience and familiarity with qualified WPS requirements.

The role requires MIG/GMAW and/or FCAW with multi-pass welding, reading drawings, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards in a defense environment.

Qualifications

• Armor-steel or defense fabrication experience required.
• Experience with MIL-DTL-12560 armor plate, MIL-DTL-46100, SSAB ARMOX 500T/440T.
• Experience with high-strength or quenched-and-tempered steels.
• GMAW/MIG and/or FCAW welding to controlled WPS.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and welding symbols.

Responsibilities

• Weld and fabricate armor-steel components and defense assemblies.
• Perform multi-pass GMAW/MIG or FCAW on high-strength steels.
• Fabricate armor panels, hulls, doors, turrets, structures, and ballistic assemblies.
• Follow welding symbols, specifications, and WPS.
• Manage preheat, interpass temperature, heat input, fit-up, and distortion control.
• Complete welds to required quality and dimensions.
• Perform inspections and address weld defects.
• Maintain welding and production documentation.
• Adhere to safety and defense-industry procedures.
