Responsibilities
- Perform duties related to detention, processing, safeguarding, security, escort, and transport of detainees as required by the contract.
- Exercise surveillance and control over detainees, maintaining order and discipline.
- Enforce rules and regulations of the detention facility.
- Provide care, custody, and control of detainees.
- Remove detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security measures.
- Guard detainees during deportation or exclusion hearings, transport, and medical care.
- Carry one of the authorized intermediate weapons, in accordance with Service approved Use of Force policy.
- Inspect, maintain, and care for authorized equipment, including semi-automatic pistols, magazines, handcuffs, restraints, ballistic vests, and other gear.
- Requalify with weapons quarterly.
- Make official entries in transportation and processing logbooks.
- Conduct security and sanitation checks prior to relieving the outgoing officer.
- Perform vehicle inspections before and after transportation routes.
- Inventory all equipment and record results in logbooks.
- Ensure all authorized equipment is in proper working condition.
- Maintain communication radios with fully charged batteries.
- Support Krome Service Processing Center operations as needed.
- Attend to housing, feeding, and the well-being of detainees 24/7.
- Adhere to organization policies, complete required training, and follow safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- One year of Military, Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections experience.
- US citizen or lawful permanent resident residing in the US for the last five years.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Pass criminal background and credit checks.
- Obtain and maintain DHS/ICE clearance.
- Pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
- Meet health requirements through medical examination.
- At least 21 years old.
- Valid state driver's license or CDL if transporting over 16 passengers.
- Valid armed security G license from Florida.
- Ability to obtain a Florida D license.
- Maintain current residency in the continental US.
- Maintain physical fitness standards.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and communicate effectively in English.
- Good judgment, alertness, and composure in emergencies.
- Professional appearance, discretion, and integrity.
