Job summary

Akima seeks an Armed Guard to support security operations at a government facility in Fort Collins, CO. The role centers on protecting government personnel, facilities, equipment, and property while maintaining a safe, secure environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong situational awareness and good judgment, able to work independently or as part of a team, following post orders and federal security requirements. CPR/first aid and reporting duties are included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three (3) years of security experience in the past five (5) years OR military/National Guard service OR an associate degree or higher in security-related field OR police officer training OR equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Protect Government Property: Guard buildings, equipment, and government property while controlling access for employees, visitors, and authorized personnel.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry and exit points per procedures and post orders.
• Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies, incidents, alarms, and assist emergency personnel as needed.
• Crowd, Parking, and Traffic Control: Direct pedestrians and vehicles as required.
• Professional Interaction: Interact with government personnel, visitors, law enforcement, and the public professionally.
• Maintain Composure: Exhibit poise and sound judgment during stressful situations.
• Security Equipment: Operate detectors, CCTV, and security systems as required.
• Firearms: Safely carry and use firearms per regulations and company policy.
• Report Writing: Prepare clear, concise security incident reports.
• Post Orders: Read and follow written post orders and instructions.
• Communications: Respond to dispatches and maintain contact with supervisors and responders.
• Emergency Medical Assistance: Provide first aid/CPR per training until medical help arrives.
• Facility Security: Maintain awareness and report suspicious activity or safety concerns.
