Job summary

Ochsner Health in Lafayette, LA seeks a Security Officer to protect patients, guests, and staff while enforcing safety policies. This role requires vigilance, routine site inspections, and participation in emergency response drills, with duties spanning opening/closing of buildings and incident reporting.

Qualifications

• Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Required: 1 year of experience in Security, law enforcement, or military.
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid driver's license with clean DMV report.
• IAHSS Certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire/promotion.
• Employment contingent upon successful completion of the FTO program within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Enforces all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
• Conducts routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations.
• Investigates accidents and incidents and reports occurrences in a timely manner.
• Performs opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration and other safety duties.
• Participates in emergency response and related drills.
• Maintains annual certifications and training within required time frames.
• Adapt behavior to patient population with respect for privacy and appropriate introduction and communication.
• Other related duties as required.

Education

Work Experience

Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Valid driver's license in the state of practice and clean DMV report
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), and firearms training
• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification to be obtained within 90 days of promotion/hire
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of the FTO Program within the first 60 days of employment

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individual.
• This position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
• Ability to continuously walk the company property including outside areas, interior areas, using stairwells in 11 floor plus structure.

• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.
