Excelsior Defense is seeking a highly professional Armed Security Officer for a premier corporate office environment in Tampa.
This is not a traditional "stand post and observe" security assignment. We are looking for an officer who understands that professional security is equally about presence, judgment, communication, discretion, and customer service.
The ideal candidate will have prior military, law enforcement, public safety, executive protection, corporate security, or other high-level security experience. Prior military or law enforcement experience is strongly preferred.
Our client’s expectation is simple: every person entering the building should be treated as though they are a diplomat.
That means the officer must be able to maintain strict access-control standards while remaining courteous, polished, tactful, and professional. The right candidate knows how to enforce a security requirement without creating unnecessary confrontation or making employees and visitors feel unwelcome.
This position requires an officer who can:
We are specifically looking for someone who is:
Professional. Observant. Diplomatic. Technically capable. Calm under pressure.
You should be comfortable interacting with senior executives one minute and professionally addressing an access-control violation the next.
We want an officer who can read the room, recognize when something is out of place, communicate without escalating situations, and understand that the security officer is often the first impression of the building.
Candidates must possess a valid Florida Class D Security Officer License and Class G Statewide Firearm License and meet all applicable requirements for armed security employment.
Candidates should also have:
Prior military or law enforcement experience is strongly preferred.
Candidates with backgrounds in corporate security, executive protection, government security, public safety, corrections, or other professional armed-security environments are also encouraged to apply.
If you are looking for a post where you can sit at a desk, spend significant time on your phone, or simply "watch the building," this is not that assignment.
This post restricts personal cellphone use to rare and necessary circumstances and prohibit its use for entertainment or anything that distracts the officer from duty.
We are looking for an officer who takes ownership of the post, stays engaged throughout the shift, and understands that professionalism and customer service are part of the security mission.
