Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is seeking an Armed Security Officer to join the Dearborn Security team in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. This part-time role (20 hrs) involves patrolling, managing access, and ensuring patient, visitor and staff safety with professional service and de-escalation when needed.

Responsibilities include monitoring CCTV, reporting incidents, and coordinating with local law enforcement. Requires firearms training, valid license, and either security experience or law enforcement

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with applicable Criminal Justice experience, or a Bachelor's degree.
• 6 months SEH Security Officer 1 experience or current sworn law enforcement officer or honorably discharged Armed Forces member.
• Valid driver's license and insurable by the hospital carrier.
• Specialized firearms training and ability to complete required training including weapons retention.

Responsibilities

• Direct visitors, patients and staff and intervene to prevent disturbances.
• Protect and safeguard all persons on SEH property and respond to security incidents.
• Provide way-finding and courteous assistance to patients and visitors.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems; handle radio and telephone communications.
• Complete case reports, logs and daily data entry in a professional manner.
• Attend mandatory training, including firearms-related courses.

Job Summary:

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring an Armed Security Officer to join our Dearborn Security Team.

Shift/Hours: Part Time 20 Hours, Any Shift

The Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff; and to interact with people, with an emphasis on professional service and customer relations. The Armed Security Officer should have a working knowledge and understanding of the use of deadly physical force. This position works closely with staff, local law enforcement, and other government agencies.

Patrol Activity:

• Directs visitors, patients and employees to appropriate location(s) and intervenes to prevent and control disturbances.
• Protecting, securing, and safeguarding all persons on SEH property.

Customer Relations:

• Provide way-finding and general assistance for patients and visitors during the course of routine security duties.
• Individual must have the ability to relate to customers, provide clear communications in a courteous, professional manner, and offer appropriate de-escalation techniques in a variety of situations.

Operations Center:

• Monitor activity via closed circuit television and monitor the various alarm systems that terminate within security.
• Effectively handle radio and telephone communications.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Complete case reports, maintenance logs, the daily data entry and any other necessary documentation in a professional manner.
• Review roll call, emails, and other pertinent information on a daily basis.
• Ability to use photographic documentation to supplement written reports when appropriate.

Training:

• Successfully complete all mandatory training required by the department.
• Complete and maintain all additional trainings associated with firearms.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

• High School Diploma or GED required with applicable Criminal Justice experience
• OR
• Bachelor’s Degree

• Valid driver’s license and must be insurable by the Hospital insurance carrier

Specialized Knowledge:

• Successfully completed an accredited police academy firearms course, or a state approved concealed carry firearms course, or an approved firearms training program, or related military firearms training.
• Successfully pass a Psychological Evaluation
• Successful completion of weapons retention training

Kind and Length of Experience:

• 6 months of SEH Security Officer 1 experience
• OR
• Current Sworn Law Enforcement Officer
• OR
• Honorably discharged member of the Armed Forces
