Job summary

Bentonville Schools is seeking a Commissioned School Security Officer to patrol campuses and protect students, staff and visitors. The CSSO carries a firearm with authorization and works under the Director of Security and Safety and the Principal to maintain a safe educational environment.

Qualifications include 60 hours of training with firearms, state police examination, a clean national/state background check, and current active law enforcement status. Experience with adolescents is preferred.

Qualifications

• 60 hours of training including firearms qualification and a state exam.
• Certified law enforcement officers are exempt from training.
• Must be a current, active law enforcement officer and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Patrol school buildings to ensure a safe environment for students, staff and visitors.
• Work with School Resource Officers and maintain security for the campus.
• Enforce district policies on smoking, loitering, trespassing and related rules.
• Escort students, monitor visitor logs, and prevent unauthorized entry.
• Assist administrators with investigations and maintain orderly conduct.
