Job summary

Advocate Health, a major nonprofit health system, seeks a dedicated security professional to ensure safety across facilities. The role involves intervening in high-risk situations, enforcing laws, and supporting investigations.

You will work within a fast-paced environment, coordinating with law enforcement partners and clinical leadership. Qualified candidates hold General Law Enforcement Certification and Basic Training, with a Criminal Justice background.

Qualifications

• License/Registration/Certification: General Law Enforcement Certification
• Level of Education: Basic Law Enforcement Training
• Field of Study (if applicable): Criminal Justice
• Years of Experience: 2 (preferred)
• Describe Type Experience: General law enforcement or public safety experience (preferred)
• Ability to work independently and respond calmly in complex, stressful situations
• Knowledge of and ability to apply federal, state and local criminal statutes and case law
• Knowledge of criminal process
• Demonstrate proficiency with a firearm to meet Advocate Health and applicable state standards
• Ability to obtain and maintain applicable state General Law Enforcement Certification
• Valid Driver’s license
• Ability to pass rigorous background check, polygraph and/or psychological testing
• Ability to pass Advocate Health mandated Taser, CPI, and self-defense training

Responsibilities

• Intervenes when unruly, abusive, combative, threatening, or armed individuals are encountered.
• Apprehend and arrest individuals for criminal activity.
• Complete investigations of criminal activity within assigned jurisdiction, make arrests, and process defendants.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for assistance; complete reports.
• Assist teammates and serve as SME in criminal process.
• Communicate calmly and coordinate with community police agencies as appropriate.
• Provide armed response to imminent threats on Advocate Health property.
• Prepare criminal cases for court proceedings, attend court, and testify.
