Qualifications

• Hold a current Professional Certificate from the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.
• Ability to perform physically active duties (walking campus, directing traffic, lifting at least 20 pounds).
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
• Experience using computers; proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Pass a background investigation.
• Three years of law enforcement experience.
• Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED, HazMat, NIMS, or related emergency training.
• Experience as an officer in a community college or educational setting.
• Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field (Desirable).
• Documented investigative training and experience (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Answer directly to the Chief of Campus Police.
• Work all shifts and weekends, including sporting events and college-wide events.
• Arrive on time for duty; maintain neat, uniform appearance.
• Be armed; qualify with duty weapon.
• Attend training and meetings as prescribed by the Chief of Police.
• patrol corridors and parking lots; issue parking citations.
• Escort faculty and students when needed.
• Report hazards to Maintenance.
• Type written reports in the college database and complete by end of shift.
• Maintain a daily activity log.
• Walk long distances and perform light lifting.
• Interact professionally with students and the public.
• Lock and unlock campus daily and for events.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
• Enforce campus rules and regulations; prepare evidence for hearings or court.
• Investigate campus incidents; inform administrators as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
