Area Vice President

Department: Area Leadership / Operations

Reports to: Regional Vice President

Lead the Business. Build the Team. Shape the Market.

Concrete Strategies is looking for an Area Vice President to lead the overall performance and growth of an assigned market.

This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for the Area's business - including safety, quality, sales, client relationships, project execution, financial performance, and team development. You'll set the direction, stay close to the work, and make sure the Area operates safely, profitably, and consistently.

You'll work closely with the Director of Construction, who leads day-to-day construction operations and project execution, while you maintain ownership of the Area's overall strategy, client relationships, growth, and P&L.

What You'll Lead
Area Business and Financial Performance
  • Own the Area P&L, including revenue, backlog, margins, forecasting, cost control, labor productivity, and profitability.
  • Develop and execute Area business plans in partnership with Finance and regional leadership.
  • Review budgets, staffing plans, project performance, forecasts, and operational risks.
  • Hold leaders and project teams accountable for financial targets and operational discipline.
  • Identify risks early and lead corrective-action plans that improve outcomes.
Sales, Growth, and Client Relationships
  • Lead sales and growth efforts within the assigned Area.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key market partners.
  • Partner with business development, estimating, preconstruction, operations, and executive leadership on pursuits and market priorities.
  • Evaluate opportunities based on operational capacity, workforce availability, risk, profitability, and long-term strategy.
  • Represent Concrete Strategies in key client meetings, interviews, presentations, and strategic pursuits.
Operational Oversight
  • Maintain overall accountability for project and operational performance across the Area.
  • Partner with the Director of Construction to ensure projects are properly planned, staffed, and executed.
  • Reinforce expectations around safety, quality, scheduling, cost control, labor productivity, field execution, and client service.
  • Stay closely connected to high-risk or challenged projects and major operational issues.
  • Help remove roadblocks involving staffing, subcontractors, clients, resources, or project risk.
  • Make sure lessons learned and best practices are shared across the Area.
Project Health and Risk Management
  • Lead and reinforce weekly Project Health Meetings.
  • Require consistent, accurate use of project-management systems, reporting tools, and forecasting processes.
  • Use project data to identify negative trends, margin concerns, resource gaps, and execution risks early.
  • Work with project teams to create clear corrective-action plans with defined owners and timelines.
  • Escalate significant risks to the Regional Vice President with clear recommendations and support needs.
  • Build a culture where project reviews prevent surprises and improve outcomes - not simply satisfy an administrative requirement.
Safety and Quality
  • Champion Concrete Strategies' safety culture throughout the Area.
  • Ensure safety and quality expectations are clearly communicated and consistently reinforced.
  • Partner with safety, quality, field, and operational leaders to address trends and corrective actions.
  • Hold Area leaders accountable for proactively managing operational, financial, safety, quality, and client risks.
Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Director of Construction, project leaders, and other Area leaders.
  • Set clear expectations and hold teams accountable for communication, planning, execution, and results.
  • Build leadership depth through coaching, development, and succession planning.
  • Create a strong Area culture centered on safety, accountability, collaboration, urgency, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Keep Area, regional, and company leadership aligned around priorities and performance.
What You Bring
  • Significant leadership experience in construction operations, concrete operations, project delivery, field operations, or business-unit leadership.
  • Proven experience leading teams, projects, operating areas, or business units.
  • Strong knowledge of construction operations, scheduling, cost control, labor planning, safety, quality, client management, and project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience with P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, revenue planning, margin management, and financial review.
  • The ability to lead sales and business-development efforts while maintaining strong operational discipline.
  • Experience developing operational leaders and project teams.
  • Strong communication, coaching, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • The ability to make difficult decisions and hold people accountable while maintaining trust and alignment.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned Area.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and follow-through.
How You Lead

You understand that strong business results come from strong project execution, trusted client relationships, and capable leaders. You know how to use financial and operational information to spot concerns early, make informed decisions, and protect profitability.

You set clear expectations, stay steady through challenges, and give your team the direction and support needed to succeed.
