GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is a key member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store, overseeing general operations and supervising staff when acting as the Manager on Duty. This role includes opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, ensuring a friendly shopping environment, proper merchandise presentation, and maintaining cleanliness. The Area Supervisor also executes and supervises operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritizes safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintains awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Responsible for building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, Cash Office security, and handling armored carrier pickups.
- Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensures customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to alarms when needed.
Customer Service:
- Treats customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism, recognizing associates appropriately.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represents and supports the Company brand consistently.
- Maintains a professional appearance and enforces the Dress Code.
- Keeps all store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards through teaching and follow-up.
- Receives merchandise trucks as needed.
- Processes merchandise promptly.
- Handles inbound deliveries and maintains stockroom organization.
- Assists in delivering and merchandising merchandise on the sales floor.
- Secures and processes back-stock per policy.
- Reduces loss due to damage and ensures compliance with presentation guidelines.
- Manages floor moves, signing, and re-wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention:
- Follows Loss Prevention programs, maintaining a customer service presence and engagement to prevent loss.
- Demonstrates integrity, safeguards confidential information, and maintains PVM systems.
- Conducts package inspections and executes company best practices efficiently.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Maximizes productivity and ensures associates adhere to standards at the Front End.
- Manages line pacing and trains associates on cash register operations and policies.
- Controls break schedules and maintains equipment and supplies.
- Ensures proper processing of returns, re-wraps, and merchandise salability.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audits and accounts for all garments, ensuring return compliance.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager:
- Handles cash pulls and bank deposits per policy.
- Oversees Front End control, including refunds, tills, and cash security.
- Manages payroll activities, including punch edits and scheduling.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior supervisory and customer service experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills for retail.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to operate store equipment, stand/walk extensively, and lift up to 25 lbs. Some roles require lifting over 20 lbs. Ability to use janitorial and store supplies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
