General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store and the general operations and supervision when functioning as Manager on Duty. They open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy-to-shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, and maintain a clean work area. They also execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
- Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all activities.
- Maintain situational awareness on the sales floor to create a safe environment; correct or report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Security of building including entrance/exit control, daily EAS device checks, Cash Office security, armored carrier pickup, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe egress to emergency exits.
- Responsible for Customer safety including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Customer Service
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect; demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Personal and Store Brand
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance per Company Dress Code and ensure adherence by all Associates.
- Keep Store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- General Merchandising
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards; oversee learning and task assignment per best practice.
- Receive merchandise as needed; process all merchandise with urgency.
- Handle non-merchandise inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, special deliveries).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of Stockrooms; assist with merchandise placement on the sales floor.
- Secure back-stock and follow Company policy; support department merchandising and loss reduction.
- Adhere to monthly presentation guidelines and manage floor moves, signing, and re-wraps as needed.
- Loss Prevention
- Comply with Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintain a strong customer service presence and heightened awareness.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Ensure Public View Monitor (PVM) system is maintained; conduct Code 50 inspections.
- Maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working.
- Front End Supervision And Operations
- Execute Best Practices to maximize productivity; ensure Associates follow Front End standards.
- Maintain pace and presence at the Front End to manage lines and reduce wait times.
- Train and coach Associates on cash registers, shortage controls, and Front End procedures.
- Manage break schedules, ensure equipment functionality, and maintain supplies for the Front End.
- Ensure go-backs are scanned, secured, and properly ticketed; teach Scan and Bag best practices.
- Fitting Rooms
- Maintain cleanliness; audit garment tags and ensure go-back compliance with proper ticketing and tagging.
- Administrative Duties As Assigned By Store Manager
- Manage cash pulls and bank deposits per policy; Front End control and related policies.
- Payroll administration including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance, and reporting as needed.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior Customer Service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.

Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $19.00 - $19.50. The base pay range is dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package; other rewards vary by position and location.
