Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is a key member of the Store Leadership team, responsible for managing a specific area of the Store, overseeing general operations, and supervising staff when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They handle opening and closing procedures, supervise Associates, and ensure a friendly, organized shopping environment. Responsibilities also include merchandise presentation, maintaining cleanliness, and executing company operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

  • Prioritize safety in all activities, practicing safe behaviors consistently.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, reporting unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Secure the building, including managing entrances/exits, EAS devices, Cash Office security, and handling deliveries and trash removal.
  • Ensure clear egress routes and safety for customers, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems regularly and respond to after-hours alarms as needed.

Customer Service:

  • Treat customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy and professionalism.

Personal and Store Brand:

  • Represent the Company brand professionally at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates adhere to the dress code.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.

General Merchandising:

  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards, and oversee merchandise receiving and processing.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of stockrooms.
  • Assist in merchandise placement, back-stock management, and loss reduction.

Loss Prevention:

  • Adhere to Loss Prevention policies, maintain a visible presence on the sales floor, and safeguard confidential information.
  • Maintain the Public View Monitor system and conduct package inspections.
  • Maximize productivity by following best practices and minimizing steps.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

  • Ensure front-end standards are met, manage line pace, and train associates on cash register procedures and shortage policies.
  • Control break schedules, ensure equipment functionality, and maintain supplies.
  • Oversee merchandise return procedures and teach best practices like 'Scan and Bag'.

Fitting Rooms:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
  • Ensure proper tagging, scanning, and security of returned merchandise.

Administrative Duties:

  • Manage cash pulls, deposits, and payroll activities according to policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred
  • Familiarity with POS systems
  • Basic math skills for retail operations
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Ability to operate store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift over 25 lbs as needed, with specific considerations for stockroom duties.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads where applicable.
