Job summary

Rantec Power Systems Inc. in Los Osos, CA, is seeking an Area Supervisor to lead Assemblers and Line Leads across multiple cells. You will manage hiring, onboarding, training, skill matrices, performance reviews, and labor data accuracy under the Production Manager.

The role requires BS/BA in Business or Operations, 3 years in manufacturing leadership, ERP and quality systems familiarity, and strong communication. The position follows a 9/80 schedule with competitive benefits and OT as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA in Business or Operations required.
  • 3 years directly related manufacturing experience.
  • 3 years personnel management experience.
  • Understanding of engineering documentation, ERP systems, and Quality Control systems.
  • Strong computer skills using ERP systems and Microsoft Windows.

Responsibilities

  • Personnel management for all reporting Line Leads and Assemblers.
  • Set labor priorities between work centers and manage production priorities.
  • Plan targets and milestones to execute production schedules.
  • Hiring, onboarding, training, skill matrix development, and promote workmanship quality.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and enforce performance.
  • Maintain timecards, attendance, schedules, and labor data accuracy using Paylocity and Factory Track.
  • Lead performance reviews and corrective actions.
  • Communicate production stoppages and participate in Stop Light meetings.
  • Develop and drive solutions to resolve assembler-level challenges.
  • Manage WIP and aging for local cells/lines and products.
  • Support MRB dispositions and ECN implementation tasks.
  • Manage Skill Matrix signoffs and quarterly reports.
  • Create training curriculums and schedules.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by linking defect data to problem solving.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Rantec is located in Los Osos, California, an upper-tier designer and manufacturer of power supplies for the military and aerospace markets. We are an engineering-based company, with expertise in all aspects of power supply design, manufacturing and test.

Scope

The Area Supervisor supports personnel management of the Electronic Assemblers and Line Leads across multiple work centers or cells. They are accountable for ensuring solutions are in place to resolve assembler-level challenges and roadblocks. They ensure that the workforce is trained, and employees’ tactical development plans are in place. They manage hiring, onboarding, training, skill matrix development, and oversee several line leads. This role reports directly to the Production Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Personnel management responsibilities for all reporting Line Leads and Assemblers.
  • Determine labor priorities between work centers, then adjust and execute. Manage/status production priorities and tasks for Line Leads.
  • Establish the plan, targets, and milestone to execute production schedules.
  • Hiring, on boarding, training/compliance, skill matrix, development plans, motivate, and promote workmanship quality of assemblers.
  • Employee's workmanship and performance enforcer. Ongoing constructive feedback communication.
  • Timecards, attendance, work schedules, labor tracking policy, Paylocity software, and Factory Track tasks/sustaining related to Electronics Assemblers; accountable for labor charge data accuracy.
  • Performance reviews, corrective actions, goal setting, and ongoing development.
  • Communicate and alert management on production stoppages and engage in production 'Stop Light' meetings.
  • Hold accountability for developing and driving solutions that resolve assembler-level production challenges and roadblocks.
  • Work in Process (WIP) management of local cell/line & products (staging, schedule, ageing).
  • Support and complete MRB dispositions and ECN implementation tasks.
  • Manage the Skill Matrix 'Skill Card' signoff process, scoring, and provide quarterly reports.
  • Training content - implement training curriculums (TC) and schedules.
  • Continuous improvement - contribute to linking defect data of production problems to problem solving.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, if needed.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.

Education and Experience
  • BS or BA college degree in Business or Operations.
  • 3 years directly related experience in a manufacturing work environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Work within a factory environment, including moderate noise and chemical odors.

  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus, with correction if needed, to perform hand soldering and wiring of assemblies.

Salary Range: $79,560.00 - $103,417.00 Annually
