Description

Amazon Corporate Security is seeking an experienced, self-motivated security leader who embodies Amazon’s Leadership Principles, especially Customer Obsession, Ownership, Earn Trust, and Bias for Action. The role involves managing security operations for the Southeast US area.

The Area Security Manager reports to a Regional Security Manager and oversees security at multiple Amazon locations. Responsibilities include conducting security assessments, ensuring compliance with security standards, managing incidents, providing security consultancy, and managing guarding and access control programs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering security services to ensure safety of employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Managing daily security operations across various sites.
• Implementing and improving security policies and plans.
• Coordinating incident response and addressing security concerns.
• Monitoring external threats and minimizing risks.
• Aligning security metrics and goals with organizational strategy.
• Building relationships with stakeholders and external partners.
• Serving as a trusted security advisor with high-quality communication.

A typical day involves:

• Overseeing guarding operations and vendor performance.
• Engaging with law enforcement and security partners.
• Developing performance metrics and security plans.
• Conducting site assessments and security drills.
• Managing projects and incident investigations.
• Supporting events and business continuity plans.
• Monitoring security system installations and maintenance.

About The Team

The Global Corporate Security team manages security operations worldwide, divided into three regions, each led by a regional head. The team works collaboratively to protect Amazon’s people and assets.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years of security experience in a large or global organization, including managerial roles.
• Experience managing service providers and security operations.
• Skills in risk management, crisis communication, incident investigation, project and contract management, and security standards development.
• Fluent in English with clear communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or relevant certifications.
• Experience in corporate security for large or global companies.
• Knowledge of crisis operations, legal contracts, budgeting, and security technology.
• Ability to develop metrics and analyze security trends.
• Experience with security investigations and collaboration tools like SharePoint and Tableau.
