Job summary

Google is seeking an Area Scheduling Lead to drive scheduling and program controls for data center projects across multiple U.S. locations, including Texas and Oklahoma.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Industrial Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in data center construction, leading cost management, project controls or cost estimation.

  • 5 years of experience working with construction programs/projects.

  • Experience with cost management, cost planning and estimation, negotiation, project procurement.


Preferred qualifications:


  • 7 years of experience in data center construction.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.


Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.


In this role, you will be responsible for driving strategic, complex, cross-organizational programs, establishing influence, and optimizing processes to achieve significant business impact. Implementing established program controls approach that is flexible, effective, efficient, and responsive to stakeholders as well as executive leadership reporting needs.


You will be a scheduled subject matter expert on data center construction in greenfield, brownfield, co-location and retrofit facilities (schedule, risk and change management). You will be working closely with the cross-functional team members, overseeing and implementing planning/scheduling, progressing methods/tools to establish integrated project schedule planning as we analyze new technology to deploy and build new data centers. You will lead efforts to improve operational efficiency, cycle times, reliability, predictability, and on-time delivery.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the critical alignment of schedules, acceleration timeline efforts and capital expenditure funding timelines across current and expanding capacity delivery within the subregion, directly supporting multi-development strategies and the execution of campus-wide projects across the program.

  • Provide robust schedule oversight across all projects in the sub region, meticulously managing schedule milestones and timelines in close collaboration with cross-functional partner teams.

  • Serve as the primary strategic interface and point of contact for project-level stakeholders regarding schedule controls, funding matters, and overall program health.

  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, tailoring communications (e.g., through metrics, status reports, decision logs) to drive understanding and inform key decisions.

  • Identify process breakdowns and lead the definition and implementation of standardized processes, workflows, and best practices for schedule controls to enhance efficiency, consistency, and scalability across the North America/South America Region.
