Job description

Specific company information will be shared with qualified candidates.

A well-established metals and construction-solutions company serving infrastructure and construction markets across the United States is seeking an Area Sales Manager to drive continued growth across the Mid-Atlantic region. The company provides specialized reinforcing steel solutions that help extend the life of concrete structures, improve durability, and combat corrosion across critical infrastructure and construction applications. With continued investment in U.S. manufacturing and increased production capacity, the business is entering an exciting phase of expansion. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of an established territory and existing book of business, strengthen key customer relationships, and uncover new opportunities across a market with significant room for continued growth.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Join an established business that is continuing to invest in growth and U.S. production capacity
  • Take ownership of an established territory and existing book of business
  • Build on strong customer relationships while developing new opportunities across the region
  • Represent differentiated reinforcing steel solutions used in infrastructure and construction applications
  • Enjoy significant autonomy in managing your territory, customer relationships, and travel schedule
  • Join a growing sales organization with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact as the business expands

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the territory strategy for the company’s specialized reinforcing steel products, including volume, profitability, customer priorities and market-development goals
  • Build on existing customer relationships while identifying opportunities to expand share and develop new business with fabricators, precasters and other construction-market customers
  • Create and execute a practical sales plan, prioritizing the right customers and markets and maintaining a consistent rhythm of customer visits
  • Manage travel within the territory with a high degree of autonomy. Some team members prefer shorter weekly trips while others group travel into longer road trips; the focus is on meeting customer and business objectives while maintaining a sustainable schedule
  • Partner with the technical team when conversations involve DOTs, engineering firms, product approvals or more technical product questions. This role does not need to be the technical expert; strong relationship-building and commercial judgment are more important
  • Work closely with operations, marketing and other internal partners on forecasting, pricing, service solutions, customer experience and issue resolution
  • Use Salesforce to document customer activity, track opportunities and build a healthy pipeline
  • Stay current on market conditions, supply and demand, competitive activity and customer needs to help shape territory and broader business strategy
  • Represent the company at relevant industry organizations, trade shows and customer events

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of outside sales experience
  • Experience selling into construction, metals, building materials or a related market, with an understanding of the sales cycle for construction products
  • Rebar fabrication sales experience is highly preferred, but not required. Relevant experience with fabricators, precasters, distributors or adjacent building-materials customers can translate well
  • A personable, consultative sales style: someone who listens as well as they talk, asks strong questions, and builds relationships customers want to continue
  • Ability to connect comfortably with different audiences, from fabricators and operational contacts to engineering-related stakeholders alongside the technical team
  • Strong organization, negotiation and business judgment, with the ability to independently manage a broad geography and competing priorities
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM tools such as Salesforce
  • A track record that reflects performance and reasonable career stability, along with a genuine interest in growing with the company
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

  • Approximately 50% travel; schedule is largely self-directed
