The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Division of Program Development, is recruiting for an Area Planner 1/2/3 Flex in Fairbanks, AK to keep Alaska moving. This flexed position develops multi-modal transportation plans and capital improvement programs for the Northern Region, coordinating with communities and agencies.

The role emphasizes competencies in planning, analysis, public communications, and project management.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to those typically gained by: Post-secondary education in urban or regional planning, urban design, geography, community development, transportation planning, environmental and natural resources planning, economic planning and development, or closely related field.
• AND/OR: Experience in environmental, transportation, or community development; architecture; civil engineering; landscape architecture; urban design; historic preservation; geography; geographic information systems; housing administration; grant administration; accounting; business management; or research.

Responsabilités

• This position assists with developing multi-modal transportation plans, studies, and capital improvement programs for Alaska DOT&PF's Northern Region.
• The position analyzes transportation needs, trends, and demographic information and supports the development of project scopes, schedules, budgets, and prioritization information.
• The position coordinates with communities, Tribal and local governments, state and federal agencies, and the public to incorporate transportation needs and DOT&PF responsibilities into planning efforts.
• Responsibilities also include reviewing land use, resource management, development, permitting, and other agency proposals to identify potential impacts to transportation facilities and Department interests.
• The position also supports special projects and emerging transportation issues through research, data analysis, inter-agency coordination, public involvement, and preparation of recommendations and responses.
