Job summary

Timken Company in Keene, NH is seeking an Area Manager to lead maintenance and toolroom operations. You will supervise associates, manage safety, training, and staffing while driving improvements in throughput and quality.

The role requires coordinating projects, leveraging Lean methods, and ensuring compliance with policies. Strong communication and contractor management are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.
  • Experience working/managing contractors.
  • Strong organization skills and capable of multi-tasking
  • Experience developing presentations & presenting to all levels of the organization
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Power point, SAP/MS Project exp preferred)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with verbal and written communication

Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic direction while ensuring effective utilization of resources in the advancement of both the maintenance and toolroom organizations.
  • Manage staffing plans, performance, and training for direct reports. Ensure a safe working environment.
  • Understand, comply, and consistently administer Timken local and corporate policies; conduct safety audits.
  • Ensure associate records are maintained (safety, training, pay, attendance, vacation).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance strategy for plant equipment & facilities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain workflow for tooling requests and production tooling orders.
  • Provide oversight to project managers to ensure on-time, on-budget completion and status reporting.
  • Manage activities of outside contractors.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing elements; reduce waste and improve value-added tasks.
  • Lead root cause problem solving to address customer complaints and scrap concerns.
  • Maintain employee and production records; foster open communication and positive work environment.
  • Uphold company values and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Position Summary

The Area Manager has responsibility and accountability for the quality, operating expense, schedule accomplishment, inventory and throughput measures and all legal and environmental issues that pertain to assigned areas. The Area Manager will coordinate all activities, lead and supervise all associates to meet the above objectives. The Area Manager is also responsible for providing leadership that will promote change, spur innovation and drive a continuous improvement attitude among all associates.


Essential Responsibilities


  • Execute strategic direction while ensuring effective utilization of resources in the advancement of both the maintenance and toolroom organizations. Manage staffing plans, performance, and training for direct reports. Ensure a safe working environment.

  • Understand, comply, and consistently administer Timken local and corporate policies; conduct regular safety and housekeeping audits of work areas and follow-up on all issues.

  • Ensure associate records are maintained in a timely and accurate manner (safety, training, job performance feedback, pay, attendance, vacation).

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective preventative maintenance strategy for plant equipment & facilities.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective workflow for internal tooling requests and production tooling orders.

  • Provide oversight and direction to project manager(s) to ensure proper prioritization, thoroughness and on time/ on budget completion of projects. Ensure projects align with plant short and long-term business objectives. Communicate project status to internal customers and leadership.

  • Manage the activities of outside contractors.

  • Implement Lean manufacturing elements within work areas. Reduce waste by identifying and improving value-added and removing non value-added tasks.

  • Lead root cause problem solving process to implement corrective actions that address customer complaints and other scrap concerns.

  • Maintain accurate employee and production records.

  • Foster open communication and address any issues or conflicts in the workplace.

  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment by upholding the company's core values.

  • Maintain awareness and compliance with quality standards; leverage resources to solve quality problems.

  • Prepare & present numerous types of materials to all levels of the organization.

  • This individual may generate and/or handle regulated (i.e. hazardous/non-hazardous) waste as part of this job. This must be disposed of in accordance with federal/state regulations


Basic Qualifications
