Job description

Overview

Area Manager & Business Growth Leader (Water/Wastewater) at Arcadis. Based in Tennessee or Northern Alabama. This is a leadership role responsible for leading strategy implementation to drive organic growth across Arcadis’ integrated water business. Travel up to 30% may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, conferences, leadership meetings, and related activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Tennessee and Alabama water business growth strategy and support the implementation of the business plan to achieve regional and national goals.
• Engage with Tennessee and Alabama client account teams to expand business development opportunities and strengthen client relationships with local municipalities and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other Arcadis business units to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and foster business growth.
• Provide leadership for the operational performance of Tennessee and Alabama-based Water staff to meet area goals for revenue, profit, resource engagement, and quality standards.
• Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing team; negotiate with clients, potential teaming partners, and subconsultants; oversee projects from planning through construction of water infrastructure facilities; provide technical guidance on design-build opportunities with support from the national design-build team.
• Coordinate with Area Managers and cross-functional teams (Client Account Leads, Project Managers, Practice Directors, Corporate Services, and staff in other geographies) to ensure alignment and delivery.
• Manage people processes including hiring, onboarding, staff development, performance management, and terminations as part of the role.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in water/wastewater/stormwater project management, design management, business operations, or related field.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical).
• P.E. License.

• Strong client relationship skills with a track record of delivering projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
• Solid project management experience on municipal water, wastewater, or stormwater projects of various sizes.
• People management and mentoring capabilities.
• Excellent technical engineering skills with clear and concise written and oral communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related degree such as MBA or MPA.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• 20 years’ experience in water/wastewater/stormwater project management, design management, or related.
