This range is provided by Extended Stay America. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $25.48/hr - $34.62/hr

Position Purpose and Summary

The Area Maintenance Technician provides leadership and direction to multiple ESA facilities within their assigned region. Reports to the Regional Operations leader, responsible for maintaining property/assets, managing facilities and maintenance requirements, reducing out-of-service rooms, limiting outside contractor use, and supporting preventive maintenance training. Maintains effective relationships with cross-functional teams and operations leaders.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides training, coaching, and development to Maintenance Technicians.
  • Ensures safety, maintenance, parts inventory control, and data quality.
  • Possesses mechanical aptitude for facility management (roofing, drywall, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
  • Aligns regional processes and protocols with corporate initiatives.
  • Develops relationships with vendors and supports facility programs.
  • Provides prompt customer service and resolves issues courteously.
  • Analyzes operational metrics, identifies trends, and implements improvements.
  • Ensures compliance with all standards.
  • Leads projects, develops timelines, and manages resources.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in facilities management, safety, and compliance.
  • Develops recommendations to improve processes and programs.
  • Responds to emergencies and works on property projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
  • Proficient in English, interacts well with guests and law enforcement.
  • Reads and interprets safety rules, manuals, and documents.
  • Writes reports and correspondence.
  • Performs basic math and uses American measurement units.
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel within the region.
  • Performs key duties with minimal supervision.
  • Basic PC and email skills.
Environmental Job Requirements
  • Regularly stands, walks, uses hands, talks, and senses taste/smell.
  • Occasionally sits, climbs, crouches, or lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Works outdoors, exposed to weather, fumes, and chemicals.
  • May need to travel to other locations.
