Job summary

Mountaire Farms in North Carolina is seeking a Night Shift Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate and supervise the maintenance team, manage line speed, downtime, and utilities across the plant.

You will assign work to superintendents, ensure safety, maintain equipment, and report on repairs and installations. A technical maintenance background with certifications is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in maintenance or a related field preferred; technical training and/or certifications in Electrical and Refrigeration.
  • Five+ years utility management experience in a manufacturing setting with shift leadership; poultry experience preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate maintenance across electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems and downtime reduction.

Responsibilities

  • Directs superintendents and teams across projects to optimize equipment and personnel movement.
  • Oversees electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems maintenance in production areas.
  • Monitors line speed, downtime, and schedules preventive maintenance.
  • Reports maintenance activities and ensures safety procedures and Goal Zero compliance.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and coordinates with vendors/contractors.

Job description

Responsible for scheduling and maintaining efficient operations such as line speed, controlling downtime, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems. Assigns Superintendents the work for technical employees and other duties as required throughout the process.

Job Description

Responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of employees in the maintenance department and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Responsible for scheduling and maintaining efficient operations such as line speed, controlling downtime, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems. Assigns Superintendents the work for technical employees and other duties as required throughout the process.

Duties / Activities
  • Manages and directs superintendents to send equipment and personnel from one project assignment to another as necessary. Coordinates or installs, inspects, repairs and maintains the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems within the production area to ensure proper maintenance is performed.
  • Supervises installation, inspections, repairs and maintains mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other related production systems of plant. Updates inventory and ensures all needed materials are available.
  • Directs and manages superintendents, encourages training to increase competency and commitment. Meets and deals tactfully and courteously with employees and vendors/contractors. Ensures adequate staffing is maintained.
  • Reports on maintenance/repairs installation, inspections, repairs.
  • Communicates and enforces knowledge of occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties. Enforces Goal Zero throughout the facility.
Education / Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant maintenance field desired. Technical degree/training and/or relevant certifications in Electrical (Master's) and/or Refrigerations (RETA level 4) and/or CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) or relevant experience.
  • Five plus years demonstrated utility management experience in a manufacturing environment, including a successful track record managing a shift or operations with progression in size and scope. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree; previous poultry experience preferred; previous manufacturing management experience required if no poultry.
  • Able to maintain and repair all production facility equipment in a manner that minimizes downtime. Very knowledgeable in first processing operations receiving through evisceration. Understands accountability and is performance-driven.
