Work Shift

Second Shift (United States of America) – Our NC facility is temperature‑controlled by HVAC.

Job Description

Responsible for monitoring, directing, motivating, and reporting safety and quality aspects of the packaging line and the general work area using the M.O.S. guidelines. Lead and coordinate activities of personnel assigned in the operation of injection molding machines, secondary equipment and packaging process as well as assembly operation of any and all products as required.

Essential Job Functions

• Lead an assigned group of employees and provide clear and concise assignment of work based on planned quantities.
• Perform follow‑up and resolution of all plan variances, during the shift and post‑shift follow‑up.
• Provide feedback to employees (group or individually) on the status of action plans.
• Review with injection personnel the previous day’s results (safety, quality, productivity) and give direction regarding current day goals and priorities.
• Communicate with forklift operator, warehouse personnel and material handlers to ensure timely delivery of supplies and availability of required tools, equipment and supplies.
• Make all labels and print all instruction sheets needed for scheduled orders.
• Monitor and ensure employees are working safely and following all safety regulations and provide timely feedback on policy or procedure violations.
• Determine work procedures and expedite workflow; examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Walk through the facility to verify status and visually check for facility and/or equipment damage at the beginning and end of the work day.
• Perform daily Prism transaction required for recording and tracking of production.
• Train injection personnel in job requirements per established guidelines as directed by the Shift Manager.
• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including punctuality and dependability to meet departmental needs.
• Execute each essential duty satisfactorily and follow all safety procedures in the work area, wear PPE as needed, attend safety meetings, and report safety issues.
• Perform effectively as a team member, work well with others, be open to feedback, treat everyone with respect, take ownership of work and behavior, accept accountability, encourage solutions, and communicate status of work/projects.
• Follow all department quality standards/criteria, raise concerns and issues to the immediate manager, and demonstrate Cambro company culture and core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service).
• Understand key performance indicators and contribute to achieve these goals both individually and as a team.

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Work with other shifts to resolve housekeeping issues.
• Be available for overtime as needed and remain flexible to schedule changes.
• May perform duties of packaging personnel if required to support the production department.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; one to three years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of an ERP system (e.g., Prism, Intermec, or AS400).
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing; complete reports, comprehend instructions, and communicate effectively via emails.
• Speak effectively in front of groups, coworkers, and suppliers.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
• Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in all units of measure). Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, as well as interpret bar graphs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to handle difficult situations, find resolutions, and communicate to the Shift Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems such as Prism, Intermec, or AS400.
• Bilingual in Spanish.

Physical Demands

• Sitting, walking, standing, bending at the neck and waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting at the neck and waist.
• Repetitive use of hands, simple and power grasping, fine manipulation.
• Pushing and pulling, reaching above and below the shoulder, carrying/lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Driving cars, trucks, forklifts and other equipment; working around equipment and machinery.
• Exposure to excessive noise, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.
• Working at heights; use of special visual or auditory protective equipment.
• Risk of exposure to bio‑hazards such as bloodborne pathogens, sewage, hospital waste, etc.
