Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Company is seeking an Area Learning & Development Manager to drive the learning strategy and business impact across assigned plant locations. You will lead onboarding, OJT, certification, and training planning to improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.

In this role, you will influence site leaders, monitor training effectiveness with LMS tools like Cornerstone, and coach Technical Trainers to deliver consistent results across the hourly workforce.

Qualifications

• Experience managing or executing training systems in a manufacturing or operational setting.
• Experience using an LMS, Cornerstone preferred.
• Ability to monitor training effectiveness and identify skill gaps with dashboards.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Own onboarding, on-the-job training (OJT), job certification, and training planning across assigned plants.
• Conduct regular learning health checks to validate execution quality and drive corrective action.
• Partner with plant and area leadership to align learning with safety, quality, productivity, and reliability priorities.
• Apply a risk-based approach to plant support and presence based on quarterly risk assessments.
• Coach site-level leaders on expectations and execution of hourly employee development programs.
• Provide oversight and coaching to Technical Trainers to ensure business impact.
• Utilize approved learning systems to assign, track, and report training; maintain documentation.
• Maintain an operating rhythm with Plant Managers, HR, Safety, Quality, Reliability, and CI partners.
