Area Human Resource Manager will support a 90% hourly workforce (both union and non‑union). This key member of the management team reports directly to the Director of Field Human Resources and works closely with operational leaders. The HR Manager oversees all HR activities for the Area, including talent acquisition, new‑hire orientation, talent development, performance management, associate and labor relations, benefits communications, compensation, and relocation support. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure the right associates are in the right jobs, fully engaged, and that a strong bench is maintained for sustained business success. The Area covers Penske Logistics Distribution Center Management teams, automotive warehousing in the north central United States and select operations in Ontario, Canada. Candidates should reside or be willing to travel 50–75% of the time, primarily from Michigan, Indiana or Kentucky.
Staffing: Supports centralized recruiting, resolves requisition issues, and participates in interviewing and hiring. Provides compensation recommendations and analyzes recruiting and turnover trends. Associate Development: Maintains high‑performer oversight, builds the bench, educates managers on training, and conducts classroom/webinar sessions. Performance Management: Engages managers in performance processes, develops improvement plans, and ensures follow‑through. Training and Development: Delivers training on performance, selection, safety, harassment, equal opportunity, wage and hour laws, diversity, leadership, and other area‑focused topics. Labor Relations: Conducts union risk assessments, provides union avoidance training, acts as first responder, and participates in grievance resolution and arbitration preparation. Associate Relations: Advises on policies, conducts audits, investigates complaints, and escalates complex issues. Wage and Hour: Analyzes payroll data for compliance, explains PTO policy, and resolves payroll issues. Compensation and Benefits: Communicates benefits, encourages 401(k) participation, and gathers market data. Diversity: Fosters inclusive environments, works with the Inclusion team, and manages EEO documentation. Analytics: Provides HR metrics using tools such as Citrix, Oracle, Salary Admin, Taleo, Fleet Manager, and others. Due Diligence: Conducts due diligence for new acquisitions and start‑up activities. Associate Engagement: Engages all associates and leads improvement teams.
