Job summary

Datavant is seeking a detail-oriented Release of Information (ROI) Health Information Specialist to support Medstar Hospitals. You will process ROI requests, retrieve records from EMR systems, and ensure HIPAA compliance while maintaining accurate PHI handling.

The role requires strong communication, data entry accuracy, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Onsite work in Clinton, MD with some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to commute between locations as needed.
• EMR experience or familiarity with electronic medical records is preferred.

• Provide coverage support when onsite staff are out (PTO/call-outs).

Position Overview

Datavant is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Release of Information (ROI) Health Information Specialist to support Medstar Hospitals in the area. This role is responsible for processing medical record requests, maintaining HIPAA compliance, and ensuring accurate and timely release of protected health information (PHI).

The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and experienced in electronic medical record (EMR) systems. This position requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining strict confidentiality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Release of Information (ROI) requests accurately and efficiently
• Retrieve and compile medical records from EMR systems
• Ensure HIPAA compliance when handling all protected health information
• Pull and generate reports as needed
• Perform administrative functions related to ROI processing
• Maintain organized documentation and tracking of requests
• Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, patients, and requestors
• Provide coverage support when onsite staff are out (PTO/call-outs)
• Maintain productivity and quality standards

Training & Onboarding

• Datavant DHISC training
• Hands-on, role-specific training during the first 30 days

Qualifications
