The Area Equipment Manager is responsible for managing and optimising equipment and fleet assets for the assigned geographic coverage, with a focus on safety, reliability, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, as well as technical and financial skills, performance management expertise, and industry knowledge. You will work closely with CRH Division Leadership, Company Presidents, and their teams through hands-on management and visibility in the business.
As Area Equipment Manager, you'll drive three critical business outcomes:
1. Sound Repair & Maintenance Decisions: Ensuring shops make prudent, cost-effective repair and maintenance decisions that balance equipment reliability with operational efficiency. You'll provide leadership and guidance to Equipment Managers, helping them navigate complex R&M scenarios and align decisions with overall business objectives.
2. Fleet Optimisation & Asset Utilisation: Continuously optimises fleet composition and asset utilisation across the geographic area. This includes identifying underutilised equipment, right-sizing fleets for operations, and implementing strategies that maximise equipment availability whilst minimising total cost of ownership.
3. P&L Ownership & Financial Performance: Monitor equipment and shop P&L at the Business Unit level, driving cost reduction and operational efficiency initiatives. You'll complete monthly financial reviews, communicate results, and execute action items to ensure financial sustainability.
Preferred qualifications include:
Travel up to 70% - primarily regional travel within assigned territory to provide hands-on management visibility, support stakeholders, and identify operational improvement opportunities.
