Position: Area Day Facilitator (Teacher Assistant)
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
Terms of Employment: 10 months
Pay Grade: 56
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Nature of Work
An employee in this class provides support to students who are on short or long-term suspension located atArea Day Reporting Center Structure Day Program for students who are enrolled at a Craven County School. Whereby, the Teacher Assistant responsibility is providing one on one assistant, guidance and instruction for student enrolled in the Structure Day Program. A wide variety of tasks are performed to support the Program Director in the teaching-learning process for students. The work is directed by specific instructions, precedents, and established policy.
Problems are solved through the exercise of judgment in selecting the best course of action to be taken. Errors are expected to be recognized promptly by the supervisor and corrected with little negative consequence. The work is performed under the limited supervision of the Director of Student Services and/or Program Director at Area Day Report Center.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to perform medium work exerting more than 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Special Requirements
Possesses or obtains a valid NC commercial driver’s license within 90 days employment to remain eligible for continued employment.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board and local policy on evaluation of personnel.
