Job description

SECCA Search Group is proud to partner with a leading publicly traded homebuilder with an established presence in the Texas residential market. The company is recognized for its disciplined operating model, strong financial resources, and commitment to delivering quality homes at scale.

This opportunity offers the structure and stability of a national organization while providing meaningful visibility and influence at the local level. The Area Construction Manager will play a central role in strengthening field execution, developing construction leadership, and supporting the continued growth of the Corpus Christi market.

About the Role

The Area Construction Manager will provide operational leadership across multiple active residential communities, with responsibility for construction performance, team development, quality, safety, cost control, and delivery commitments.

This individual will lead and develop a team of Construction Managers while maintaining clear visibility into community-level operations. The role requires a leader who can identify issues early, establish accountability, and translate division objectives into consistent execution in the field.

Beyond monitoring schedules and production reports, the Area Construction Manager will maintain an active presence across assigned communities, evaluate construction practices, and ensure teams have the direction, resources, and trade support needed to deliver homes efficiently and to company standards.

A critical component of the position is creating consistency across communities while balancing production pace, workmanship, customer expectations, and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Construction Operations: Oversee construction performance across multiple active communities, ensuring homes are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans, specifications, schedules, and company standards.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and develop Construction Managers. Establish clear expectations, strengthen field leadership, and create a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Production & Cycle-Time Management: Monitor construction schedules, milestone completion, backlog, and cycle times. Identify delays early and implement practical solutions to protect delivery and closing commitments.
  • Quality & Customer Experience: Maintain consistent quality standards throughout the construction process. Ensure homes are thoroughly inspected, completed on time, and prepared for a successful homeowner orientation and closing.
  • Cost & Variance Control: Review construction costs, purchase-order variances, rework, waste, and other performance indicators. Partner with Purchasing and division leadership to improve efficiency and protect margins.
  • Trade Partner Performance: Build strong relationships with trade partners and suppliers. Address performance or capacity challenges and ensure adequate labor and material availability across assigned communities.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies, building codes, permitting requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Community Performance: Evaluate execution at the community level, identify operational gaps, and develop focused action plans to improve schedule, quality, cost, and team performance.
  • Starts & Delivery Planning: Coordinate with Purchasing, Sales, Land Development, and division leadership to align construction starts, production capacity, inventory, and closing goals.
  • Field Leadership: Maintain a consistent presence across assigned communities, conduct regular site reviews, and provide hands‑on support when operational challenges arise.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Land Development, Warranty, and division leadership to support community performance and broader business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Progressive construction management experience within production homebuilding, including responsibility for multiple communities, teams, or a significant volume of homes.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop Construction Managers or other field-based construction professionals.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction sequencing, scheduling, quality control, safety, cost management, and trade partner performance.
  • Demonstrated success improving cycle times, strengthening field execution, and delivering homes against production and closing commitments.
  • Ability to analyze operational performance and convert findings into clear, measurable action plans.
  • Working knowledge of residential building codes, permitting requirements, and construction best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent homebuilding and construction leadership experience will be considered.
  • Hands‑on field leader with a strong coaching and team‑development approach.
  • Operationally disciplined and comfortable managing performance across multiple communities.
  • Strong understanding of construction schedules, cycle times, cost variances, quality metrics, and production forecasting.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges, establish priorities, and drive timely resolution.
  • Effective communicator who can create accountability with employees, trade partners, and cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized and capable of balancing production pace, quality, cost, safety, and customer expectations.
