Job summary

Indian Creek Elementary School is seeking an Adaptive Curriculum Paraprofessional to support students with special needs. The role includes assisting with daily living activities, health care procedures, and small-group instruction under teacher direction.

The candidate should be caring, motivated, and able to work with students with mental, emotional, and behavioral needs. Lifting and toileting duties may be required in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours of college courses with GPA 2.0 or higher from an accredited college or university.
• High school diploma/GED and a passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assists students with physical needs including feeding, toileting, lifting, and mobility.
• Assists students with health care procedures including hygiene and medications as needed for daily care.
• Provides small group and/or individualized instruction according to lesson plans.
• Monitors students before/after school and during non-instructional transitions.
• Supports teachers with classroom management to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Assists teachers with assessment and recordkeeping tasks.
• Develops and organizes instructional materials for use with students.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supports teachers in meeting the educational, behavioral, and social emotional needs of students in the classroom and community.

Essential Functions:

• Assists students with physical needs including feeding, toileting, lifting, and mobility.
• Assists students with health care procedures including hygiene and medications as needed for daily care.
• In accordance with lesson plans developed by the teacher, provides small group and/or individualized instruction to students.
• Monitors students before and after school and during other non-instructional transitional periods.
• Assists teachers with daily classroom management activities designed to ensure that students demonstrate behavior that is conducive to an effective learning environment.
• Assists teachers with assessment of student performance (standardized and non-standardized testing) and other recordkeeping tasks.
• Assists teachers with the development and organization of appropriate instructional materials for use with students and ensures the availability of these materials prior to scheduled instructional segments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/OR Experience:

• Minimum of sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours of college courses completed with GPA 2.0 or higher from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university is required.

• High school diploma/GED and a passing score on the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) Paraprofessional Assessment is required.

CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, PERMITS:

• Must obtain valid Professional Standards Commission approved paraprofessional certificate.
