Job summary

Laudisi is seeking a Librarian/Archivist to organize and preserve a growing archive of pipe-related materials. You will catalog physical items, design a taxonomy for digital assets, and serve as a trusted reference source for internal teams and external researchers.

You will work on-site in the Grand Strand area, requiring a genuine interest in preservation and a public-service orientation to help others access information about pipes and related history.

Qualifications

• Formal library or archival training is useful — MLS/MLIS welcome.
• Hands-on cataloging experience with physical or digital collections.
• Ability to design a metadata taxonomy from scratch.
• Comfort with Google Workspace, especially Drive and Labels.
• Genuine public-service instinct and attention to detail.
• Interest in preservation of niche scholarly materials (pipes/cigars)
• Willingness to work on-site in the Grand Strand area and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Catalog and preserve existing materials, design a system to keep them findable, and act as a reference resource for internal teams, journalists, authors, and researchers.
• Catalog our physical collection (approx. 300–500 books/magazines) and the Peterson archive in TinyCat.
• Design a digital taxonomy for assets in Google Drive using Labels and structured fields.
• Field reference requests from internal teams and external parties (press, researchers, enthusiasts).
• Tag assets and update taxonomy as the collection grows.
