Citi in New York seeks an Architecture Lead Analyst to drive the architectural vision across major IT programs and align technology with Citi's strategic goals.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise IT architecture, systems design, or related discipline.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and enterprise blueprint conformance.
• Proficiency in programming languages including Java, Python, TypeScript, or COBOL for enterprise apps.
• Experience with integration technologies (TIBCO, Apache Kafka, MuleSoft).
• Docker and Kubernetes; OpenShift or Amazon EKS; production deployment.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD.
• Relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, Redis).
• Observability via Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Splunk.

About the Team

The Architecture Lead Analyst is a strategic professional at the intersection of technical mastery and enterprise vision — a recognized authority who doesn't simply keep pace with the evolving technology landscape but actively shapes how Citi harnesses it. This role commands a rare combination of deep systems expertise and commercial acumen, driving architectural decisions that ripple across entire business functions and define the foundation upon which Citi's global technology strategy is built. In this role, the successful candidate will operate at the nexus of engineering, strategy, and influence — collaborating with cross-functional teams, senior leaders, and business stakeholders to align technology investments with Citi's broader transformation agenda. They will architect solutions that are not only technically sound but strategically differentiated, recommending emerging technologies that redefine what is possible within one of the world's most consequential financial institutions. Responsibilities

• Executes the architectural vision for all IT systems through major, complex IT architecture projects; ensures that architecture conforms to enterprise blueprints.


• Develops technology road maps, while keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies, and recommends business directions based on these technologies.


• Provides technical leadership and is responsible for developing components of, or the overall systems design.


• Translates complex business problems into sound technical solutions.


• Applies hardware engineering and software design theories and principles in researching, designing, and developing product hardware and software interfaces.


• Provides integrated systems planning and recommends innovative technologies that will enhance the current system.


• Recommends appropriate desktop, computer platform, and communication links required to support IT goals and strategy.


• Exhibits good knowledge of how own specialism contributes to the business and good understanding of competitors products and services.


• Acts as an advisor or mentor to junior team members.


• Requires sophisticated analytical thought to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations.


• Impacts the architecture function by influencing decisions through advice, counsel or facilitating services.


• Guides, influences and persuades others with developed communication and diplomacy skills.


• Performs other job duties and functions as assigned.


• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise IT architecture, systems design, or a closely related technical discipline, with a demonstrated track record of delivering complex architectural solutions at scale.


• Deep expertise in architecting and delivering end-to-end systems design, including hardware-software integration, platform engineering, and enterprise blueprint conformance.


• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EKS) or Microsoft Azure (AKS, Functions, Cosmos DB), with the ability to architect and deploy scalable, cloud-native solutions.


• Proficiency in programming languages including Java, Python 3.10+, TypeScript, or COBOL, with experience building and maintaining enterprise-grade applications in regulated financial environments.


• Experience with integration technologies such as TIBCO, Apache Kafka, or MuleSoft, including designing event-driven and message-based architectures that support high-throughput, mission-critical systems.


• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes (OpenShift or Amazon EKS preferred), including deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting in production environments.


• Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools including Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD, with experience automating build, test, and deployment workflows across complex multi-environment pipelines.


• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, or Redis, including performance tuning, schema design, and data modeling for enterprise applications.


• Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Splunk to ensure system reliability, uptime, and rapid incident resolution.


• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or cloud-native ML services (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML), with experience applying intelligent solutions to complex engineering and architectural challenges.


• Demonstrated ability to translate complex, ambiguous business problems into technically sound, implementable architectural solutions with measurable outcomes.


• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey highly technical concepts to diverse audiences.


• Methodical approach and strong attention to detail, particularly when developing system designs, road maps, and architectural documentation.


• Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, adapting to shifting priorities and tight delivery timelines without compromising quality.


• Self-starter who takes initiative, independently masters new technologies and platforms quickly, and brings solutions-oriented thinking to every engagement.
