Job summary

Ware Malcomb is seeking a Technical Specifications Writer to develop comprehensive project manuals for Architecture and Interior Design projects. You will collaborate with project teams to craft specifications, masters, and support submittal reviews, shaping quality across projects firmwide.

The role requires extensive construction materials knowledge, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Preferred equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• Preferred minimum of 15 years of experience within Architecture or Interior Design with at least 5 years of writing specifications.
• Strong computer, written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Extensive experience in construction and construction materials.
• Experience in MasterSpec, Bluebeam, Word and Excel is preferred.
• Public speaking in front of groups is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive project manuals based on information provided by the Management Teams.
• Suggest alternate solutions when necessary.
• For complex projects, schedule periodic reviews during document development.
• Review comments with the Management Team and respond to questions or concerns.
• Mentor junior staff members.
• Stay knowledgeable about products and industry standards and trends.
• Be a general resource to the company for technical questions and opinions.

As a Technical Specifications Writer at Ware Malcomb, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive project manuals for Architecture and/or Interior Design projects. You will collaborate with project teams to develop specifications, client-specific masters, and support project teams with submittal review. Your expertise in building materials, codes, and industry standards will shape the quality and consistency of projects firmwide.

• Prepare comprehensive project manuals based on information provided by the Management Teams.
• Suggest alternate solutions when necessary.
• For complex projects, schedule periodic reviews during the development of documents.
• Review comments with the Management Team and respond to any questions or concerns.
• Take a mentorship approach when dealing with junior staff members.
• Stay knowledgeable about products and industry standards and trends.
• Be a general resource to the company in answering technical questions or providing opinions.
