Hardman Signs in Houston, TX is seeking a Graphic Designer (Conceptual & Technical) to join our onsite Houston team. The role blends high-level design with practical sign fabrication knowledge, translating creative vision into buildable architectural signage.

The ideal candidate has a design degree or equivalent experience, excels in CorelDRAW and Adobe Creative Suite, and can produce precise shop drawings for fabrication and installation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Design or 7+ years sign shop design experience is required.
• Proficiency in CorelDRAW Graphics Suite and Adobe Creative Suite is required.
• Experience creating technical shop drawings and buildable sign layouts is essential.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual Design & Ideation: Develop original visual identities and signage concepts meeting client brand standards and architectural aesthetics.
• Technical Shop Drawings (Primary Duty): Produce detailed, scaled shop drawings with material callouts, dimensions, mounting details, and electrical specs.
• Manufacturing Synergy: Understand sign construction methods; optimize files for CNC routers, ZUND cutters, large-format printers, and laser etchers.
• Project Lifecycle Management: Manage timing and deliverables across multiple projects from bid sketches to final documentation.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with ADA signage requirements and local codes and permits.
• Field Engagement: Travel up to 25% for site walks and field surveys to verify measurements and feasibility.
• Quality & Safety Oversight: Review specs to prevent waste and ensure safe handoffs to production.
