Job description

Commercial Wall Panels, Standing Seam Roofing & Architectural Sheet Metal
Build distinctive projects. Own the details that make them successful.

Nations Roof is seeking an Architectural Metal Estimator / Project Manager with the technical knowledge to develop accurate estimates and the organizational skills to carry projects from bid through installation and closeout. If you understand how architectural metal systems are fabricated, detailed, and installed—and enjoy turning complex plans into successful projects—this is an opportunity to put that expertise to work.

Position Overview

This dual role combines estimating and project management for commercial and industrial architectural metal projects. Scope includes insulated metal panels, metal composite material panels, standing seam roofing, and fabricated sheet metal components such as roof edges, copings, gutters, downspouts, soffits, fascia, and counterflashings.

You will evaluate project requirements, develop competitive proposals, coordinate materials and fabrication, and provide field teams with the information needed to install each system safely, accurately, and efficiently.

What You’ll Do
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract documents to identify scope, system requirements, installation details, and potential conflicts.
  • Perform detailed digital takeoffs for wall panels, standing seam roofing, trim, flashings, and related assemblies, accounting for panel layouts, coverage, material thickness, finishes, waste, and fabrication requirements.
  • Develop estimates that include materials, labor, fabrication, equipment, freight, access requirements, subcontractors, and project-specific installation conditions.
  • Evaluate details involving substrates, attachment systems, clips, fasteners, insulation, air and water barriers, sealants, penetrations, and transitions between roofing and wall assemblies.
  • Request and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations; confirm pricing, quantities, lead times, exclusions, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Prepare clear proposals outlining scope, inclusions, exclusions, qualifications, and alternate pricing.
  • Manage assigned projects from award through closeout, coordinating budgets, schedules, procurement, fabrication, deliveries, and installation activities.
  • Coordinate shop drawings, product data, finish selections, samples, and other required submittals; track approvals and revisions before releasing materials.
  • Review field dimensions and coordinate with fabrication and installation teams to address panel sizing, trim profiles, tolerances, sequencing, and constructability.
  • Lead office-to-field handoffs, communicating approved scope, installation details, labor budgets, material requirements, safety considerations, and customer expectations.
  • Maintain project cost tracking in spreadsheets and company systems; monitor commitments, labor usage, material costs, and forecasted costs to complete.
  • Identify scope changes, prepare change-order pricing, and document approvals and associated budget or schedule impacts.
  • Conduct site visits and coordinate with general contractors, architects, customers, suppliers, and field leaders to resolve technical questions and maintain progress.
  • Support billing, punch-list completion, warranty documentation, and project closeout.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients through responsive communication, accurate proposals, and reliable project execution.
What You Bring
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Estimator or Project Manager for a contractor performing commercial architectural metal, sheet metal, wall panel, or roofing projects.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, elevations, sections, shop drawings, and architectural details.
  • Technical knowledge of architectural wall panel systems, standing seam metal roofing, and fabricated sheet metal accessories.
  • Familiarity with insulated metal panels, metal composite panels, concealed- and exposed-fastener systems, attachment methods, flashing details, and weatherproofing requirements.
  • Experience with systems from manufacturers such as Kingspan, Metl-Span, CENTRIA, Petersen Aluminum/PAC-CLAD, Reynobond, McElroy Metal, Fabral, ALUCOIL, Citadel, Firestone, ALUCOBOND, ALPOLIC, or Morin.
  • Working knowledge of commercial and industrial roofing procedures, construction sequencing, jobsite safety, and safe roof-access practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets used to organize estimates and track project costs.
  • Experience using computer-based takeoff and estimating software; The EDGE experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and clear documentation.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Ability to safely carry, set up, and climb portable ladders and access project work areas, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • A willingness to learn new systems, strengthen technical skills, and grow into greater responsibility.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $XX,000–$XX,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
