Job summary

Certified Enameling, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare takeoffs, cost calculations and proposals for commercial architectural projects.

You will review plans and bid documents, perform digital takeoffs, request vendor pricing, and prepare competitive proposals that protect profitability. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in commercial estimating and proficiency with Bluebeam, Takeoff software, ERP systems like Odoo, and strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Experience with architectural metals, glazing, sheet metal, commercial painting, metal finishing, or related work.
• Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and complete project documents.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam and digital takeoff software.
• Experience with BuildingConnected, On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft 365, or similar systems.
• Comfortable learning and working within ERP systems such as Odoo.
• Strong math, organization, communication, and follow-through.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with professional communication skills.
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet firm deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and priorities with limited supervision.
• College degree preferred but not required with equivalent industry experience.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents.
• Complete accurate digital quantity takeoffs.
• Calculate material, labor, finishing, freight, and outside-service costs.
• Request and compare pricing from vendors and suppliers.
• Prepare clear, complete, and competitive proposals.
• Track bid deadlines, revisions, exclusions, and follow-up activity.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and unclear requirements before submitting bids.
• Maintain accurate pricing and project information in company systems.
• Support project managers with scope, pricing, and job information after award.
• Communicate clearly with customers, vendors, project managers, and internal teams.
• Respond promptly to requests, changes, deadlines, and project priorities.
• Help improve estimating templates, digital workflows, and cost accuracy.

About the Position

Certified Enameling is seeking an experienced, tech-forward Estimator to prepare accurate takeoffs, cost calculations, and proposals for commercial architectural projects.

Our projects include:

• Architectural metal finishing
• Powder coating and liquid Kynar coatings
• Sheet metal fabrication
• Storefront systems
• Aluminum doors and frames

The right candidate must be comfortable reviewing complete project documents, performing digital takeoffs, requesting vendor pricing, and preparing competitive proposals that protect company profitability.
