Job summary

Archinect in Morristown, NJ seeks an experienced Architect to lead project teams through surveying, design development, and construction documents. The role requires a NAAB‑accredited architecture degree and 5–7 years of post‑graduate experience with strong knowledge of IBC, life safety, and accessibility guidelines.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of full-time post‑graduation architecture experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program; on track for licensure.
• Proficient with National Building Codes (IBC), Life Safety, Accessibility Guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Technical lead for all project phases from initiation to construction administration.
• Conduct comprehensive space surveys and produce as‑built drawings.
• Independent production of Construction Documents including Specifications and MEP coordination.
• Detailing for interior and exterior construction.
• Review drawings for code compliance and design intent.
• Coordinate with consultants and product reps; mentor junior staff.
• Attend field visits, generate reports and manage punch lists.
• Lead client meetings and manage client interfaces.

Job description

Responsible for site surveying, schematic design, design development, fully coordinated construction documents, and construction administration tasks. Independently develop technical detailing and specifications, including coordinating with consultants and product reps. Provide technical guidance and oversee a team of Junior Architects and Designers. Responsible for quality control of all work produced.

Responsibilities include:

• Technical lead for all phases of the project, including project initiation and setup, surveying, construction document drawings, and construction administration.
• Comprehensive space surveys and accurate as‑built drawings.
• Independent production of Construction Documents, including Specifications and MEP Coordination.
• Interior and Exterior construction detailing.
• Review drawings for accuracy, including building code, scope of work, and design intent.
• Research related to Building Code and technical design.
• Construction Administration tasks, including reviewing/logging shop drawings, submittals, RFIs.
• Attend construction field visits and generate reports.
• Performing punch lists.
• Client interface and relationship building. Lead client meetings when assigned.

Qualifications Include:

• 5-7 years of full-time relevant post‑graduation experience.
• A Bachelor's or Master's in Architecture from a NAAB accredited institution. On the path to licensure.
• Proficient knowledge of National Building Codes (IBC), Life Safety, Accessibility Guidelines.
• Able to lead a small production team on technical construction documents.
• Proficient with CD set production in Revit. Proficient in AutoCAD Architecture.
• Working knowledge of Adobe suite, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to focus on tasks.
• Problem solving skills, resolving issues that arise while keeping in mind client's needs, budget, scope and contract.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work with a team and be mentored by senior staff.
• Able to mentor junior architectural designers.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Driver's license, personal vehicle, and the ability to commute to Hoboken and Morristown is required.
