Job summary

Cairn is seeking an Architectural Designer to generate permitting drawings and execute Cairn's projects in the field. This position is available for the right part-time employee with full benefits, with potential for full-time employment.

The role emphasizes producing detailed Revit drawings, collaborating with principals, estimators, engineers, and field staff, and adapting designs to budget and regulatory constraints. California-based opportunity with growth potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
• In-depth knowledge of Revit software is essential
• Licensure is not required
• Creative design skills
• Communication skills: ability to interact with clients, engineers, and especially other team members and operate as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-contract design in collaboration with principal and estimator
• Reviews design requirements and constraints and determines best design options for building the project.
• Creates building designs and highly detailed drawings using Revit software
• Creates 3D renderings for visual representation of designs for field staff and clients
• Creates architectural plans which meet the desired requirements and expectations of clients by designing according to budget and preference
• Provides drawings to principal, PM's, and Lead Carpenters
• Modifies and updates designs based on review comments from other project development team members and agencies
• Works within constraining factors such as town planning legislation, environmental impact, and project budget
• Coordinates with structural engineers and architects
• Ensures proper documentation and record of all vital information related to a structural design
• Prepares design documents for permitting
• Documents and keeps record of architectural designs and other relevant information required for filing purposes.
• Maintains drawings storage on server or hard copy as appropriate
• Writes specifications as required
• Adapts plans according to circumstances for resolving any problems which may arise during construction
