Job summary

IPS - Integrated Project Services, LLC is seeking an Architectural Designer I/II for our Leawood, Kansas office. You will work with designers, architects, and engineers to develop architectural designs for life sciences facilities.

You will use Revit to create documentation, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and contribute to project design with strong communication and BIM knowledge. Travel up to 20% may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of architectural design office experience.
• Proficient in Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows.
• General knowledge of MEP system design.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing design documentation across master planning, schematic, preliminary, and construction documentation.
• Assist senior staff with design solutions by interpreting mark‑ups and implementing changes.
• Use Revit to develop architectural design documentation in line with BIM/CAD standards.
• Review drawings to ensure compliance with company design and production standards.
• Collaborate with the Project Architect to interpret design requests and coordinate with team members.
• Support field visits and site surveys as needed by more senior staff.
• Create renderings, diagrams, and special projects as assigned.

We are looking for a dedicated Architectural Designer I/II to join our talented team at our office located in Leawood, Kansas.

In this role, you will work with a team of Designers, Architects, and Engineers to assist with the design and development of architectural projects in an effort to help meet or exceed the expectations of the client.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assists in the development of the design documentation for the following design phases: master planning, schematic, preliminary, and construction documentation.
• Assists more senior department personnel and Architectural Designers I&II with design solutions by having the ability to interpret drawing mark-up drawings and execute changes on the project based on such mark-ups
• Uses Revit to develop architectural design documentation that aligns with company BIM/CAD standards.
• Reviews drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards.
• Ability to work as a team member and capable of interpreting the Project Architect's design requests.
• Proactively alerts team members of a project design change that may affect time and costs of the project.
• Keeps the Project Team aware of workload and requests work when needed.
• Works with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.
• Interacts with clients on a limited basis to secure scope and design intent.
• Ensures acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to assure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
• Participate in architectural design work coordination with related engineering disciplines.
• Support field visits and site surveys when accompanied by more senior departmental personnel
• Capable of creating renderings, generating diagrams, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 4-6 years of previous architectural design office experience.
• Must be highly proficient in the use of Autodesk Revit and possess a strong understanding of BIM workflows.
• General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system design.
• The ability to exhibit and develop strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Having a fundamental understanding of building codes.
• Bachelor's Degree; Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree with NAAB Accreditation.
• Life Sciences Industry experience.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
• Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
• Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.

Work Environment

• Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
• Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.

Travel

• This position will have 5-20% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
• You may be assigned to a client site for an extended period.
• Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client's location is possible, depending on the assignment.

• You will visit Client sites and will be required to adhere to stated safety rules.
• Must have access to reliable transportation.
• Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.

Safety

• This position is a safety-sensitive position.
• The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
