Job description

Description

Design has the ability to empower ideas and connect people. At Baskervill, we take that seriously—and we have a lot of fun doing it.

We’re a multidisciplinary design firm with a growing global footprint and more than a century of experience shaping some of the country’s most influential spaces—from university campuses and civic hubs to luxury resorts and Fortune 500 workplaces. Our Education Studio is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Architect/Project Designer who’s ready to get hands‑on across a range of project types and scales.

In this role, you’ll contribute creativity, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to projects ranging from cutting‑edge laboratories and research spaces to student‑centered environments such as dining facilities, recreation and athletic spaces, and shared campus amenities. It’s a position built for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work, and wants to be involved in the full arc of a project—from early ideation to built results.

What you’ll be doing:

No two days are exactly the same, but you can count on a few constants. Including:

  • Oversee projects from design conception to construction completion while focusing on meeting budget, timeline, and client specifications
  • Help lead the team of Architects, Engineers and Interior Designers to manage design, coordinate construction documents, and resolve any issues that may arise in construction administration
  • Support the Principal in Charge in addressing client priorities and maintaining smooth client relationships, while remaining motivated, organized, and passionate about projects
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and consultants on projects
  • Mentor and work closely with junior staff to review their work and support their career development
  • Work on multiple projects of varying sizes, providing team guidance through every phase of design
About you:

A great match for our team is someone who has:

  • Professional licensure preferred, or on the path to attaining licensure
  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and Newforma
  • Experience in project architecture and management including consultant coordination, design and construction document preparation, and working with the contractor through construction administration
  • A desire to work collaboratively with team members in a constructive and engaged manner onsite in our Richmond office
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with an ability to listen carefully and analyze information
  • Experience managing/mentoring staff
  • The ability to travel to other Baskervill offices or client project locations as needed
