Job summary

The University of Virginia seeks applicants for the position of Architect/Planner in the Office of the Architect for the University.

Under the direction of the Architect for the University, the Architect/Planner researches, develops, and prepares preliminary and final program plans for short- and long-range capital planning efforts and assists in the planning efforts and capital project development from concept through design and construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Two years of relevant experience; more may substitute for degree.
• Licensure: None.
• Master's degree preferred with 3–5 years of planning/design experience; STEM facilities, healthcare planning and design preferred.
• Experience in higher education is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Researches, develops, and prepares program plans for short- and long-range capital planning efforts.
• Assists in planning efforts and capital project development from concept through design and construction.
• Serves as a resource for space utilization, benchmarking, and facilities planning.
• Produces planning and design related written and graphic work products.
• Contributes to long-range capital planning and space allocation strategies.
