Overview

We're seeking a talented Architect or Job Captain to join a national multi-disciplinary design firm in their San Jose studio. The firm is renowned for its innovative approach to design, focusing not just on what they create, but why it matters.

The firm has 12 offices all around the world focusing on healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, and government projects.

Job Overview:

As a key member of their collaborative project teams, you'll work on all phases of design and construction documentation for clients in the public and corporate sectors. This position requires excellent communication, time management, and technical skills, as you'll work closely with a Project Manager or Principal and a team of consultants to develop design concepts into high-quality documents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of project design philosophies and contribute significantly to building performance strategies, effectively communicating these to team members.
  • Provide technical design input and support for the entire design concept, leading detailed design development and project coordination efforts.
  • Seek creative solutions to assigned tasks and develop supporting research and documentation.
  • Collaborate with consultants to ensure project deliverables are coordinated and integrated, supporting the design concept and performance goals.
  • Contribute to preparing design documents and lead the development of construction documents across all project phases.
  • Advance the production of schematic, design development, and construction document drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, cost, and design intent.
  • Review project documents for compliance with building codes and zoning ordinances.
  • Stay updated on evolving building technologies and systems.
  • Perform construction administration duties and maintain client, consultant, and contractor relationships throughout the project.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture; Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensed architect in California preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience on small- to large-scale projects.
  • Experience with TI and core and shell projects.
  • Strong graphic skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit required; knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other industry software is beneficial.
  • Ability to travel to job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in creative workplace and technical lab projects.
  • LEED accreditation.
