Job summary

Stantec in Philadelphia seeks an experienced architect to join its Healthcare Buildings practice, leading planning, design, and documentation across a range of project sizes.

You will mentor team members, work with BIM/CAD workflows, ensure code compliance, and collaborate with project leadership to deliver high-impact healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity.
• Lead or support project teams to meet budget, schedule, and design intent.
• Develop designs through sketches, physical models, diagrams, and massing studies.
• Utilize BIM to develop three-dimensional models of buildings and components.
• Participate in design critiques and pin-ups.
• Interpret and apply building codes and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and revise site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, and details.
• Participate in bidding and addenda preparation.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and prepare site observation reports.
• Lead client meetings and coordinate with consultants, owner, contractor, and subcontractors.
• Participate in client requirements meetings, design presentations, and value analysis.
• Assist in preparing project specifications and coordination of construction documents.
• Participate in constructability reviews.
• Conduct QA/QC on own projects.

In this role you will work as part of our dynamic team with individual responsibilities to assist clients through the planning and creation of the client’s vision. These projects range from transformational ground-up projects to one-room renovations, which connect back to the shared mission to create impactful spaces for patient treatment and staff wellbeing.

Based on your prior experience you will be familiar with all phases of design, documentation, and construction, including building codes, construction documentation, project budgeting and construction responsibilities. At Stantec you will have the opportunity to innovate in design, delivery, and use of technology. You will lead the development of integrated design projects, continuous updating of a building information model, preparing a variety of output / drawings throughout the project, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables as required under instruction from the project leadership including the project manager, design manager, and principal in charge.
