Shive-Hattery is seeking an Architect in the Civic Public Buildings Market with 5-10 years of experience. You will lead projects from concept through completion, collaborating with a talented team to deliver high-quality, thoughtful solutions for public clientele.

The role emphasizes design leadership, coordination with engineers and designers, and involvement in business development opportunities. Office or hybrid work is expected.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of experience in architecture practice.
• Accredited professional degree in architecture (Bachelor's or Master's) or equivalent.
• Registration as a licensed architect is a requirement.
• Capable of managing and supervising project teams of architects, engineers, and designers of medium and large projects.
• Demonstrate a high degree of aptitude in critical, creative thinking associated with design and the design process.
• Knowledge of programming, planning, and building performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead public buildings projects, directing delivery to Shive-Hattery standards.
• Contribute to design and project management via reviews, ideas, and 3D work.
• Direct and mentor junior staff on design processes and documents.
• Attend project and client meetings with design professionals.

As an Architect in the Civic Public Buildings Market with 5-10 years of experience you'll play a key role in supporting the firm and shaping projects that make a difference-from concept through completion. You'll collaborate with talented teammates, contribute your expertise, and help us deliver thoughtful, high-quality solutions for those we serve.

What You'll Do

• Serve as lead architect for projects across our public buildings market through directing the delivery of projects in compliance with Shive-Hattery standards
• Participate and contribute in design and project management through design reviews, idea generation, collaboration, and design work in drawing, modeling and 3D image formats
• Direct and mentor junior staff to design, produce and coordinate the design process and technical documents
• Attend project and client meetings with design professionals for projects under contract
• Collaborate with local office leadership and firmwide Market leadership on select business development opportunities

Requirements

• 5 to 10 years' experience in the practice of architecture
• Completion of accredited professional degree program with a bachelor's degree or master's degree in architecture, or equivalent in appropriate education and experience.
• Registration as a licensed architect is a requirement
• Capable of managing and or supervising project teams of architects, engineers, and designers of medium and large projects
• Demonstrate a high degree of aptitude in critical, creative thinking associated with design and the design process
• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code and current ADA requirements
• Knowledge of programming, planning, and building performance

• Qualifications/Proficiencies consistent with mid-level experience for a motivated and creative professional; able to design with inherent understanding of building systems; capable of designing projects for high quality public/institutional clients
• Self-motivated and able to problem-solve independently. Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and Google SketchUp. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is beneficial
• Excellent communication skills
