Job summary

US Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief of Operations, Senate Office Buildings (SOB), Facilities Support Division, seeks an Architect to develop architectural designs, write detailed specifications for new construction, interior and exterior alterations, restorations, additions and repairs to SOB buildings.

The position requires meeting OPM qualification standards for GS-12/13, with specialized experience in architectural design, technical reviews, project management, and contract

Qualifications

• Specialized experience must be equivalent to the next lower grade level when applicable.
• Experience in architectural design, technical reviews, quality control, and project management for building projects and interior tenant fit-outs.
• Ability to assess compliance with construction standards and prepare drawings and scopes of work.
• Experience as Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative (COTR) or equivalent in construction projects.
• Experience evaluating studies, plans, design specifications and progress reports for architectural/engineering/construction processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform architectural design, technical reviews, quality control and project management on building projects and interior tenant fit-outs from planning through construction.
• Assess compliance with construction standards, prepare full construction drawings and specifications, and prepare scope of work documents.
• Evaluate studies, plans, design specifications and progress reports for architectural, engineering and construction processes.
• Serve as COTR or equivalent for building construction projects.
• Monitor furnishings quality and coordinate with suppliers, installation contractors and procurement personnel.
