The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods, we provide financial support to assist men and women with social and spiritual challenges. Our in-residence rehabilitation program offers basic necessities, a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure activities, counseling, and spiritual guidance. Our focus is on developing life skills and fostering a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Each team member contributes to recycling goods that help repair broken lives.

Position Overview

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Store Manager to create a welcoming and hospitable work environment, foster excellent customer relationships, motivate staff, and meet sales goals.

Responsibilities
  1. Create a pleasant work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
  2. Ensure compliance with the Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Centers Operations manual and all policies and procedures, including issuing warnings when necessary.
  3. Meet sales, production, and expense targets to ensure profitability.
  4. Ensure proper display of merchandise on the sales floor.
  5. Participate in hiring processes, including reviewing applications and conducting interviews, and recommend candidates for employment.
  6. Conduct performance evaluations and recommend training for staff.
  7. Hold monthly staff and safety meetings, ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulations.
  8. Schedule staff shifts, post weekly work schedules, and manage time off requests.
  9. Manage payroll submissions biweekly, noting absences, overtime, etc.
  10. Order merchandise to keep the store stocked, following the Rag Out Calendar for merchandise presentation.
  11. Train and supervise new and existing employees, including retraining as needed.
  12. Handle cash receipts, ensure proper accounting, and safeguard funds.
  13. Complete and forward sales reports to the finance department daily.
  14. Report inspections or site visits from OSHA, CPSC, or local authorities to the Administrator.
  15. Participate in manager meetings and communicate policies to staff.
  16. Protect property and report hazards, damages, or injuries.
  17. Oversee work therapy beneficiaries, modeling professional conduct and supervision.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in sales preferred.
  • Leadership and motivation skills.
  • Ability to interpret income and expense reports.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable DMV record.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work at any store location under the ARC.
