Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is seeking a Counselor to provide compassionate counseling within our Adult Rehabilitation Center. You will meet with a caseload biweekly, conduct crisis counseling, and facilitate weekly counseling, education, or Bible/prayer groups to support clients on their recovery journey.

Responsibilities include documenting sessions, assisting with intake, administering screening for prohibited substances, and participating in staff meetings and events.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in counseling or related field.
• Working knowledge of issues such as substance abuse, homelessness, displacement, etc.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility in work schedule to include evenings and occasional weekends.

The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods we are able to provide the financial support to assist men and women with a variety of social and spiritual afflictions. The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. All our effort is focused on developing life skills and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. More than just a job, each member of the team contributes to recycling goods that literally recycle and repair broken lives.
