Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company offers an Arborist Trainee Internship in Baltimore, MD. The field-based program runs 40–50 hours per week, Monday through Friday with some Saturdays, and pays $22–$23 per hour. You will work side-by-side with experienced arborists, learning tree care, plant health, and client service while gaining real on-site experience.

• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline
• Driver’s license required. Commercial driver’s license a plus
• Must have enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture
• Love of the Outdoors!
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Demonstrated ability to report to work regularly and punctually
• Collaboration and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor and work in the field with experienced Arborists and other professionals to deliver client service and maintain health and beauty of trees and landscapes
• Tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance
• Tree & Landscape installation and safe operation of equipment (chainsaws, chippers, etc.)
• Plant Health Care including deep root fertilization, soil care and integrated pest and disease management
• Exposure to daily operations and business components of a residential tree care office
• Client service, sales, management and leadership fundamentals
• Introduce career oriented students to opportunities in the green industry in a safe, inclusive environment

Job Duties

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Work in the field, side-by-side with experienced Arborists, Climbers and Plant Health Care technicians and Landscape professionals to deliver exceptional client service and maintain the health and beauty of trees & landscapes.

• SALARY: $22 -$ 23 hourly
