Job summary
The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an Arborist Trainee Intern in Canton, MI for Spring-Summer 2027. You will work on-site with seasoned arborists, performing pruning, removal, cabling, and tree care tasks while learning the business side of residential tree service.
Hours are 40–50 per week, Monday–Friday with some Saturdays. Salary is $22–$23 per hour, with full internship benefits and industry training opportunities. CDL is a plus, a positive attitude and reliability are essential.
Qualifications
- Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline
- Driver’s license required. Commercial driver’s license a plus
- Enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture
- Love of the Outdoors and a positive attitude
Responsibilities
- Learn to be a tree doctor and support Davey’s career pathways in the green industry while working alongside experienced Arborists and plant health care professionals
- Assist with tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and maintenance
- Safely operate equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and other field tools
- Support Plant Health Care activities including deep root fertilization, soil care and pest/disease management
- Gain exposure to daily operations and business components of Residential Tree Care
- Provide client service, sales, management and leadership fundamentals
